RMPT DAY 13 WEEKLY BLOG

 May 22, 2022

The second week of senior project has ended! This week, I worked with some new patients, tested my PT

knowledge, and read some fascinating articles on ACL injuries in adolescent ski racers. I checked off my

goal for this week which was to give my blogs more visual content. I was able to take a few pictures of an

ACL and meniscus reconstruction, a fractured spiral tibia, and a fractured fibula. I have also been

observing how PT professionals deal with patients who come in with an injury that has been ongoing and

has gone from acute to chronic because they didn't think that their condition/conditions were that bad

until it came to that point. It can be very frustrating for PTs to do their job when patients come in with

multiple issues before healing from one. Although their job is to fix people, they are not fairy godmothers.

The physical therapists at Ragged Mountain Physical Therapy, do their job to the finest and they don't just

do their job they go above and beyond. They are the teachers and their patients are their students. Their

job is not only to massage or perform cupping or dry needling, they teach you about using your muscles

in ways that can transform some people's bodies into new ones. They want you to figure out whether

using their core can make you squat better or if squeezing your glute muscles can help you stand on one

leg longer. And when a patient comes in the next week and is able to stand on one leg for a minute or do

30 squats with no help vs the week before, it makes the physical therapist and the patient very happy.

Progression is the biggest aspect of PT and although Diane and Ben at RMPT are sad to discharge people

from PT, they are so happy to see them continue living their healthy life.
