RMPT DAY 4
May 12, 2022
Day 4 of senior project! Today I was able to observe dry needling on a patient for the first time. This delicate process is useful for relieving pain in the back area, specifically from the patient that I observed. I observed a few patients that I have already seen and they had all walked in the door saying that they were feeling really great from their last appointment so it was very nice to hear that they are processing in the right direction. I was also able to do some more hands-on things today like helping out with stim along with giving exercises to my patients based off of their condition. I also did some reading on physical therapy from a book where I had learned some more information on spinal injuries based off of a patient that I had. It had been very fun to connect with each patient that I have had so far and to share common interests about Proctor. Being able to have a strong connection with your patient results in an easier process. I have also enjoyed seeing a few proctor students who come in. Today I had one of my friends come in who is recovering from an ACL injury and I observed, gave feedback, and corrected how he did his exercises. Using the knowledge that I have and then from what I have learned so far, I have felt a sense of confidence when I am able to share my feedback on something or correct someone's form by simply saying to use their core muscles or contracting their glute muscles, and what I have realized is that it doesn't have to be a big change for it to change. A little definitely goes a long way. It was also really cool to see how far he has come along even though the physical therapy process can be hard at some points. Overall today I was able to see a variety of clients and learn about a new modality.
Daily hours: 4 hours 35 mins
Total hours: 14 hours 5 mins
That is super cool!!!
